to kill a beast, 2024
performance with Zach Schoenhut

The impulse to comprehend phenomena in their entirety appears as both a necessity to function in society as well as an impossible task. Continuing their research on instability and falling, Chimonas and Schoenhut embrace futility and surrender to their unchecked ambition to perform a relevant work. But how, when what is real does not compute and words and gestures feel inadequate? In this time of exhaustion, as bodies fall, we are sliding down a rabbit hole of spectacular violence. “To kill a beast” unfolds as a circus of free association, where collapse becomes the generative force of a shifting world.
